Gilbert House Fellowship #176: Jeremiah 3-7

THE HEARTBREAK of Jeremiah at the prophesied destruction of Jerusalem is evident in this week’s reading:

My anguish, my anguish! I writhe in pain! Oh the walls of my heart! My heart is beating wildly; I cannot keep silent, for I hear the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
Jeremiah 4:19 (ESV)

We discuss God’s condemnation of the faithlessness of the kingdom of Judah, which is startling coming as it did within living memory of the reforms of the good king Josiah.

  1. I just wanted to thank God for people like the Gilberts, Gary Stearman, L. A. Marzulli, and others like them. Years ago having had a very close encounter and experience with a “UFO” it severely jeopardized my faith. Now I know what we’re dealing with and my faith in God is strengthened. May God bless all of you.

  2. Hi Sharon and Derek!
So grateful you have this site. Met you at the True Legends Conference in Branson and it was AWESOME!!!!!!!! Had the honor of taking a picture with Sharon ( elderly lady of color that was so nervous she couldn’t stop shaking,) lol, and hearing the POWERFUL presentation by Derek. You are among the sweetest warmest and loving people I have had the honor to meet. Branson conference did not disappoint. Purchased my ticket for this year and was excited to learn Sharon will be one of the speakers. Will you be speaking again Derek? BTW: LOVE THIS SITE.

Hi, Yvonne: Thank you for your kind words! We remember you, and we are honored.

As of now, it’s just Sharon who will be speaking. We’ll see if that changes, but it’s OK if I don’t. I’d be happy to just be the guy who introduces all the smart people!

  3. Hi Derek and Sharon. This is not Jeremiah 3-7. It seems to be the same as the next one, Jeremiah 8-13. Just letting you know. Also I posted a comment on the Facebook page. Not sure if you see those or not. Anyway I was saying that I get a little lost when you start talking about the gods and their names etc. Are they all different fallen watchers? Or just Satan with different names. Maybe you could do a program explaining all this? Maybe not. Well thanks for these wonderful studies. I am learning so much. May the Lord bless you both abundantly. Sincerely, Marilyn

Thank you for catching this! I’ll fix it. As for the explanations: There’s an appendix in Last Clash of the Titans that identifies the various gods by their names in different cultures, but I’ll work on a series of videos after we get past the summer. We have a book to write and a couple of documentary videos to produce from our tour of Israel and the UK before I can tackle that project. 🙂

      1. Thank you Derek. You are far too busy to do a teaching on the gods and no need since you have it laid out in your book. I will get the book when I can. God bless.

  4. I wondered as I listened when God said the land was curse because of adultery if that meant the actual ground or was it another word for the people, culture or society. The reason I ask is because I thought of God telling Cain that Abel’s blood was crying out from the ground. Just a thought. Incidentally Marilyn Abbott is my sister. She told me about you two and I have been listening every since. I so enjoy listening to you. I too have learned so much from your comments. Keep it up.
