Gilbert House Fellowship #279: Exodus 16-17

THE WILDERNESS OF SIN had nothing to do with naughtiness in the desert. It was, in fact, a reference to the moon-god Sîn, which is likely why Moses mentioned the day of the month Israel entered the desert (15th day of the second month, when the moon was full).

Likewise, Mount Sinai was probably named for the moon-god. We’ll see further encounters with the moon-god and his followers, the Amorites, through the period of the Judges, with one final showdown about 900 years after the Exodus in the days of the prophet Daniel.

The location of the waters of Meribah poses a problem for those who would locate Mount Sinai at Jebel al-Lawz in Arabia. Comparing Exodus 17:1, Exodus 19:1-2, and Numbers 27:14, the location of the strife at the waters of Meribah is confusing unless Kadesh and Sinai are the same place. (We plan a book on this, and we think Kadesh was at Petra in Jordan.)

We also discuss the command of God to “blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven.” We explain why being forgotten was the ultimate fear of people in the ancient Near East, who believed that one only truly died when one’s name was forgotten. This sheds light on Abraham’s stress at not having an heir, and on this detail from the life of David’s son, Absalom:

Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and set up for himself the pillar that is in the King’s Valley, for he said, “I have no son to keep my name in remembrance.”

2 Samuel 18:18 (ESV)

This is based on the ancient Amorite rite of kispum, a ritual performed at least once a month during which dead ancestors were summoned by name and “fed” with bread and water (or wine) to sustain them in the afterlife, and recruit their help in this life, by keeping their names in remembrance.

We connect this to the modern Black Lives Matter movement. The movement’s organizers have explicitly stated that the purpose of “saying their names” is to summon spirits. See the August 19, 2020 program from AFA general counsel Abraham Hamilton, III to hear it from BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors and BLM Los Angeles founder and California State University Professor of African Studies Melina Abdulla in their own words.

This is not a racial justice movement. Their protests are occult rituals performed openly on the streets of America, and its roots are the sin of the Amorites who lived more than 4,000 years ago.

For details on the Amorite kispum ritual, drawn from peer-reviewed, academic, secular research, see our book Veneration.

  1. One thing I’m trying to figure out is since the people had their flocks of sheep and goats, why wouldn’t they have had milk, cheese and meat? Any thoughts on that?

    1. Author

That’s a very good question. We’ve wondered about that ourselves. To be honest, we don’t have a definite answer. We have to assume they didn’t have enough to feed everyone.

    2. I have wondered that as well.

Also am wondering where yeast kept coming from as it all all meant to have been got rid off before the first

Also, where did they get grain for sacrificing as stipulated by God while in the wilderness? If they did plant and harvest, why did they need the mamma and quail?

  2. Ever wonder where the Israelites got their weapons to fight against Amalek? Josephus reveals what happened after God drowned Pharaoh’s army: On the next day Moses gathered together the weapons of the Egyptians, which were brought to the camp of the Hebrews by the current of the sea, and the force of the winds resisting it; and he conjectured that this happened by Divine Providence. (Antiquities Book III, chapter 1)

  3. The manna was called angels food and the corn of heaven (Psalm 78:24-25).

It appeared as hoar frost. The root word for hoar frost in Hebrew is kephowr, a word akin to kippur. Yom Kippur is the Day of Atonement. It is a word to describe what happened once a blood sacrifice was offered before God. It was as though God was looking ahead in time when Christ, the true bread from heaven would come down and spill His blood on the ground to atone for all mankind, providing the eternal covering for all who would receive this eternal Bread of Life.

  4. Hello, Derek and Sharon!

Thank you for uploading the video from Abraham Hamilton III.
I never supported BLM, and this video explained why I felt something is wrong with this organization from the beginning. The spirit of darkness is definitely over United States and the world with so many people supporting this movement including big name celebrities and businesses.
Let’s all pray against this wickedness and the hearts and minds of the people following this movement can be opened before it is too late.

    May God bless you both!

    Melinda

  5. We need to talk. I have not read the Red Wing Saga but I have information that may help you resolve the plot. I have the key to the abyss. It links Stonehenge, Pyramids, mathematics, modern technology, Thoth, Apollyon and the abyss.. I cannot be sure until the abyss is opened, and I fear the information is already in the wrong hands. However; it is a reliable conjecture that presents a realistic resolution to the key and how it works.

  6. Love your fellowship guys. Such a blessing to receive every sunday.. With that being said.. Where is the next episode? 😀 im going on a picnic with my girlfriend today and we need our spiritual bread!
