Gilbert House Fellowship #120: Proverbs 13-18

proverbs-14-1A COMMON thread through the Proverbs is the wisdom of listening to correction or reproof. As hard as it can be to hear that we need to rethink the way we’re doing things, true wisdom comes from listening to guidance.

We continue our study of the Proverbs, discussing the benefits of accepting correction, seeking wisdom, and thinking before speaking (or posting, in this Internet age). We also spend some time discussing Proverbs 14:1 and the power of women to build up or destroy their homes.

  1. Hi Gilberts,

I watch your program daily. I would like to say, I love what you guys do! I wish I could contact you another way, but this is all I can do. Now let me get to the point:
It seems like you guys take an either/or perspective on all sides of scripture. Do you ever consider that certain specific elements of Scripture consist of a both/and hermeneutics view, more specifically, that books like Revelation could have elements of amillenianism to the extent that it does not contradict the explicit referent to Jesus’ literal coming? In other words, could many of the elements in various schools of thought on eschatology (and all schools of theology for that matter) have essential specific elementsll in some eclectic amalgamation to the extent that they don’t contradict, more specifically, that the second coming of Jesus is more complex than just his literal physical coming but His manifestation in the spirits and souls of those who seek Him diligently? I am not here to debate just opening understanding. If salvation is indeed a 3 fold process as Chuck Missler demonstrates, could the heavenly reality, not be only some distant future place but a state of being in the heart and mind, that is the Spirit and Soul? Wouldn’t that be in a sense a precursor to the resurrection and glorification of the body? I read in proverbs that there is no knowledge in Sheol/hades (hell) but hosea says that my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. In other words, lack of knowledge is a reality faced on earth and thus hell is a reality that is first experienced on earth (but doesnt end with only heart and mind rejuvination). If so, could heaven be also? If the Kingdom of GOD is within us, wouldn’t that validate that? My premise is this, that salvation of the spirit and SOUL, that is the mind and heart after its renewed, manifests the spiritual heavenly reality and that in a sense is the precursor to the rapture/ 2ND coming. It is being free without bondage in heart and soul. Thus there may be some elements from amillenniumism that agree with a physical rapture. In other words, test all things and hold fast to what is good, I’m just chewing the meat and spitting the bones here. Strengthening of the mind is essential to this spiritual war, my friends. I am not at odds with you guys, I am opening up friendly dialogue where disagreementioned is allowed and discovery is essential. Please email me for more engagement.

    Your friend,

    Edwin

      Hi, Edwin,

Thanks for your note. There are some elements of scripture that require an either/or interpretation. In my view, premillennialism is one of those.

However, as I went out of my way to mention on Thursday’s update on SkyWatchTV, and as Carl Gallups and I discuss on tomorrow’s View from the Bunker, when it comes to prophecy, we do need to be more gracious to one another. As Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 2:8, God deliberately obscured the prophecies of Christ’s first coming so that the archons (rulers of this world) wouldn’t understand. So it’s entirely possible that we don’t understand the prophecies of the Second Coming any better than the apostles did the prophecies of the first.

  2. I’m sorry I just want to clarify further. Could we choose specific nuggets/portions of interpretation/conclusions within a system of thought that agrees with the testimony of the whole council of God, without embracing the entire system?

  3. The book of Revelation says that Israel will sign a 7 year peace treaty with the Anti-Christ.Juda Ben Solonon, says the same thing, except he puts a date on it, The next and last Jubilee year, according to his absolutely perfect prophecy’s, which is 2017
So that begins the final seven years before the Return of Christ..It’s true Christ might not return in exactly 2024, and we don’t know the month or date…I would suspect on the Feast of Trumpets….but that is probably his final coming!

  4. I love your messages. I would like your input on how a wife can build up her husband when the husband is all about himself and his wants and treats the wife like she is only there to serve his needs, cooking, cleaning, financing his toys and etc.
    God Bless!

    Hi, SF:

Derek here. Thank you for your note. Consulting a Christian counselor may be the best advice we can offer.

  6. You mentioned how you spent a lot of time on the one verse, about building up your spouse, and how it felt like it was the right thing to do. It was. God used that to show me how I wasn’t doing that in my relationship, and to remind me that I needed to do that. Thank you, and thanks be to Him.
