Gilbert House Fellowship #44: Deuteronomy 6-8

shemaHEAR, O ISRAEL, the LORD our God, the LORD is one.

These words are the opening of the Shema, the central prayer in the Jewish prayer book, a declaration of faith or pledge of allegiance, if you will, to Yahweh. This week, we continue our study of Deuteronomy with a discussion of the Shema, the promises and warnings from Yahweh to the Israelites, and how these passages relate to prophecies fulfilled in the days of Antiochus Ephiphanes and yet to be fulfilled in the time of the Antichrist.

  1. Deuteronomy is one of my favorite books in the Bible. As I read and listen to you reading it, I imagine how Moses might have felt as he spoke all this. Was his heart breaking because he knew what they would eventually do. I imagine the pleading in his voice as he spoke these words. Trying to get the people to listen. Perhaps I am way off base but that is what comes to mind as I read this book. I so appreciate your faithfulness in doing these readings. God bless you greatly.

  2. Thank you for leaving the OT Archives on your Website. I’m reading thru the Bible again (now going thru Dueteronomy) and decided to listen to your Archives. It helps me filling in and understanding a little bit better some important points I’ve missed. Thank you.

  3. If the new covenant brought about the overthrowing of the dominion of the sons of God over the nations at the resurrection, then why would we need Eph. 6 telling us we are waging war with with principalities in high places. in the heavens. He did triumph over them but it is already but not yet. Then we will reign with Christ when he comes back to claim the Nations because after the seals are opened he puts them down. The scroll is the legal document that makes this disinheritance of the sons of god final and it is Christ that has dominion of the earth. This is in response to iron myth 5.

The scroll is the legal document that makes this disinheritance of the sons of god final and it is Christ that has dominion of the earth. Could it be since it was YHWH that gave the sons of god the nations the legal transfer can not happen from the sons of god to Jesus until they are dead. Remember Adam had the first legal right of dominion but he would die, but Jesus died in man’s place and then raised so in him we become immortal. I think the scroll is YHWH’s will and testament. I don’t really see how the destruction of the Temple has any thing to do with what the sons of god had. The temple belonged to Israel. Israel is the one the new covenant was made with. God included the nations in the Abrahamic covenant but Israel is still God’s inheritance and will return at the fullness of the gentiles This is a comment to iron myth 5.

  5. On VFTB isn’t it interesting your subject fell on 666 episodes is about serpents. At the end of the broadcast you were speaking of the conversion of Paul on road to Damascus. In ken Johnson work on the Damascus document and community rules for essences he and Josh Peck bring up that The road to Damascus May well have been Quamran. It was called The new Damascus by Essences. When trying to find location for his conversion you may consider Ken’s research..
