THE END of the 11th chapter of Daniel reads like a prophecy of the wars of Antichrist. HEAR, O ISRAEL, the LORD our God, the LORD is one.
These words are the opening of the Shema, the central prayer in the Jewish prayer book, a declaration of faith or pledge of allegiance, if you will, to Yahweh. This week, we continue our study of Deuteronomy with a discussion of the Shema, the promises and warnings from Yahweh to the Israelites, and how these passages relate to prophecies fulfilled in the days of Antiochus Ephiphanes and yet to be fulfilled in the time of the Antichrist.
