Gilbert House Fellowship #151: Revelation 4-6

THE FIRST six seals are opened in our study of Revelation this week. Bearing in mind that the meaning of these seals has been debated for 2,000 years, we offer our best understanding of the images and prophecies recorded by John the Revelator.

We discuss the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, speculating that the first rider, often interpreted as the spirit of Antichrist (although some incorrectly believe it is Christ), may be Apollo (AKA the Semitic god Resheph and Babylonian god Nergal; both, like Apollo, are archers and gatekeepers of the underworld). We examine descriptive imagery of God on His throne that pagans used to describe the storm-god of the ancient Near East (Zeus/Jupiter/Baal), and highlight links between what John saw heaven with the throne room imagery in Isaiah and Ezekiel.

  1. Zippy outro! One thing I would point out about the 4 Riders- I figure there has always been war famine plague etc.. What seems significant is the colors of the horses WHITE BLACK RED GREEN and the line giving them authority over a quarter if the Earth to slay with a sword. The colors are the colors of the PAN Arab movement which is why so many countries in the Mideast use them in their flags. “Conquer with sword authority ” relates directly to Islam. Both point to the Middle East / North African areas.

  2. On the mark of the Beast. This thought occurred to me. I have heard translations of Rev 13 and 14 that seem more clear to me but now I can’t recall where darn it. However it seemed that getting the mark, and buying and selling with the mark, were more separated. If the credit card companies want to advertise their compliance with Sharia (that a card could be used as a debit without interest…?), getting the lucrative Muslim clientele, they put the Shehada on the card. Then no one would be buying without the mark, especially if all transactions have to be done electronically.
It really wouldn’t require anything more of a global system than we have already.
Adherents to “Islamist” as it’s called already wear the Shehada as a armband or headband in the Mideast. There are LOTS of photos of this…
