Gilbert House Fellowship #33: Leviticus 19-22

molechIT’S INTERESTING to note that these chapters of the Old Testament, which we often skim through when reading them alone, are so full of meaning that we’re spending more time on them than we have on some of the exciting chapters of Genesis and Exodus.

This week, we read and discuss God’s statutes for holiness relating to sexual immorality, contacting the supernatural realm, and child sacrifice. The Israelites haven’t entered Canaan yet, and already God is warning them to avoid worshipping the evil god of the Ammonites, Molech.

  1. Hello Derek and Sharon,

Your Bible Study is truly a blessing to me! I’m a gay woman who has walked away from that lifestyle, because of my faith and the fact that it is a sin. My question to you is this, since Jesus died for our sins, will continuing to live a gay lifestyle, keep you from being saved?

  2. Hello,

Thank you so much for your Bible Study, it is a blessing to me. I have a question about homosexuality. Since Jesus died for the sins of His believers/followers will homosexuality keep you out of Heaven if you’re a Christian who happened to be born gay? Is it matter of being a lifestyle sin? Is that why It will keep you out of Heaven?

      Hi, Tracy,

That’s a question theologians have wrestled with for millennia. Here’s our view: All of us are born with sinful tendencies of one sort or another, and none of us is perfect at resisting temptation.

Having a same-sex attraction may not be something one can help. The matter comes down to the primacy of God’s word. He has clearly defined homosexuality as a sin. It is not an unforgiveable sin; in God’s eyes a “little white lie” falls into the same category of behavior. God doesn’t grade on a curve; entry into His eternal kingdom is pass-fail, and without Christ we all fail. As John wrote, “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8).

So, will feeling an attraction to a member of the same sex keep you from salvation? No. But anyone who wants to rationalize their pet sin by rewriting God’s Word, whether it’s in regard to homosexuality, cheating on income taxes, breaking the posted speed limit, or lusting after someone who isn’t your spouse, is on a slippery slope that leads to a place they don’t want to spend eternity.

      1. I understand and that was very well put.

I’m going to keep praying for His help and focusing on learning more about the Bible, which is absolutely facinating!! The background knowledge that you and Sharon bring to the table, is so impressive and I just proves that the Bible is accurate, divinely inspired, and Historical.

One more question, if I may ask? How do you feel about Ron Wyatt and his reported discoveries: Noah’s Ark, chariott remains at the site of the Red Sea, Mt Sinai, and the Ark of the Covenant?
